Occupying Islamic territories, a threat to Muslim nations: OIC envoy

Representative of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to the Confab of police chiefs of Islamic nations Kamal Seifullah al-Momeni said here on Monday that occupying Islamic territories constitutes a blatant threat to the entire Muslim nations.

He said at the inaugural ceremony of the conference that occupying holy Qods, Palestine and other Islamic territories are not acceptable and the OIC condemns continued occupation of Muslim lands.

"Your responsibility is heavy. You should take measures through cooperation to serve strength and stability of the Muslim World," he told the police chiefs from 40 Islamic countries attending the conference.

He said that OIC works to foster solidarity among Islamic nations and called for reinforcement of Muslim solidarity.

Al-Momeni said that of course solidarity of the Muslim nations does not account for interference in one another's national affairs.

"Muslim solidarity would serve to develop commercial, cultural and economic cooperation among Islamic countries."
He said that OIC strives to draw attention of the international community to the international law and respect individual rights enshrined by United Nations Charter.
